Discover Lihou Island
Begin your walk by exploring a neolithic burial chamber. Walk through German trenches before you walk across a tidal causeway to the most westerly of the Channel Islands. This area is Guernsey’s only Ramsar Site. See the ancient priory ruins and an important archaeological site. Lihou is unspoilt, wild, and steeped in history. This important conservation area is abundant in marine and bird life. Enjoy the tranquility.
Length: 2 hours 30 minutes.
Start Location: Meet at the end of the L’Eree headland near the Prosperity Monument, Perry’s guide ref 12 A5.
Transport: Bus routes 62, 91 and 92.
What To Bring: Wear water resistant shoes with a good grip . The causeway to Lihou Island may be wet with sea water and slippery with seaweed.
Terrain: The terrain is uneven and is mainly on the flat but with one small hill.
