Who we are
Gill Girard is a local tour guide. This website is used to view information about Gill, her tours and ability to contact her. Our website address is: http://gillgirardtourguide.com.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
The contact form used on this website sends an email directly to Gill Girard. No data is stored in a database. Gill will only use any information you submit through the contact form for reasons directly connected to your request, comment, or question.
Gill will not herself use your information for marketing purposes in the future or pass it to others for marketing purposes unless you request that she does.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
Security monitoring and auditing
We use the WP Security Audit Log plugin as a security monitoring and auditing plugin to create a log of data about the ways that our web site is used by those who have login access to it (not standard users). The only information this plugin stores regarding non-authenticated website visitors is their IP address when they fail to login successfully or they 404. This information is collected and retained by the web site administrator for, as the name might suggest, security and auditing purposes.
Once activated, the plugin logs a timestamped record of when a logged-in user takes the following actions:
- Logs in and out;
- Creates, deletes or modifies or views a post (be it a page, post or a post with a custom type);
- Creates, deletes or modifies tags;
- Creates, modifies, deletes, or approves comments;
- Creates, modifies or deletes widgets and menus;
- Creates, modifies (this including changing the password), deletes a user or views another users’ profile;
- Installs, activates, deactivates, or uninstalls a theme or plugin;
- Changes system settings such as reading, general, or permalinks;
The timestamped record includes the following information:
- The user’s login name
- The user’s actual name as entered when their account was set up
- The user’s WordPress role (Author, editor, etc)
- The IP address from which the user accessed the site
- The time and date of each action detailed above while the user was logged in.
The data captured by the WP Security Audit Log plugin is stored by the web site administrator for a period of 3 months solely for security and auditing purposes.
Information captured by WP Security Audit Log is accessed only by the administrators of the web site and is stored on the web site’s database.
Information captured by the WP Security Audit Log is not shared with third parties except in the case of law enforcement requests.
This website doesn’t use any Analytics packages and therefore no analytical data is stored.
This website uses the following plugins but they don’t store any personal data.
Who we share your data with
Gill will only pass your information to a third party where that is necessary to process your booking, or request.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
